The Council of Nicaea: The Unity of the Church and Georgia

On October 1, 2024, Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University hosted an international conference entitled “The Council of Nicaea: The Unity of the Church and Georgia”, dedicated to the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea.

The event, held with the support of the Apostolic Nunciature, aimed to reflect on the historical, dogmatic, and cultural significance of the Council of Nicaea in the contemporary context of Church unity, dialogue, and theological cooperation.

The conference brought together Georgian and international professors and scholars who presented papers on the idea of Christian unity and its influence on Georgia’s religious and social life.

The event was organized in cooperation with Ilia State University and the University of Georgia.
